They will investigate and when necessary enforce the statute. In case when you are injured, you may report the loss under your uninsured driver coverage with your company.

2. Do I have to purchase uninsured motorist coverage on an auto policy? In many states you have to have uninsured motorist coverage on your auto insurance policy and the insurance company will mot issue a contract of automobile liability coverage without including uninsured motorist coverage in your policy. At the same time, some states allow you to drive without having this type of policy. You will have to check your state laws before taking a final decision on whether you want to have it or you don’t.

3. What does uninsured motorist coverage actually cover? This type of coverage applies to bodily injury only. Uninsured motorist coverage will protect you from hit and run drivers. It will also cover your losses for injuries sustained while in the car or as a pedestrian when hit by am uninsured driver. You need to remember that this type of coverage does not cover damage to your vehicle.
