General Liability Insurance

Having a small business requires you to conduct many activities and general liability insurance may be a great protection to you and your family.  One of the most important responsibilities of being an entrepreneur is that they are legally responsible for their business. Having general liability insurance can help you be responsible and can provide protection for your investment in order to reliably protect the your future.

General liability insurance protects against legal claims to protect you and your company financially.  Claims can be extensive and can occur from anywhere at anytime. For example, if you own a restaurant and someone becomes sick after eating at a restaurant they could, and these days are likely to, sue you and your restaurant. With general liability insurance if the restaurant is at fault the insurance will py fees and a certain amount of the settlement.  This could save your restaurant.

Neglect is often a typical reason many small businesses are sued.  Customers can slip on a frozen sidewalk and this could be considered general liability insurance negligence.  General liability insurance, can offer protection to help business during a long legal battle and provide payment to the customer, if they win the suit, thereby protecting your businesses financial status.

General liability insurance can also provide protection if you produce a product and a customer is injured (have you seen all those warning signs on a step ladder as an example).  This is a fairly common law suit that can result in the company being court for months or years.  Lawyer’s fee can mount up and general liability insurance is essential to help with these expenses.  Actually some states require that a business carry general liability insurance (much like auto insurance requirements).  While an expense, it does consumers when a business is irresponsible and causes injury with its products.

Something interesting, but many are not aware of one of the most important things about general liability insurance is that you do not receive a payment from the insuring company.  Insurance is not designed to be profitable to a company.  However, it is suppose to protect the insured company. General liability insurance, pays the injured or wronged party.  This coverage helps the company from having to declare bankruptcy from a lawsuit.
